The First 5 Self-Help Books I Ever Read

If you’ve read my article How a Law of Attraction Planner Led to my Personal Development Journey, you’ll know that the very first goal I made was to read a  list of self-help books. I’d never been much into self-help books but I couldn’t think of any other goals to make so I made a commitment. It was the best decision I could ever have made.

The #1 book that changed my life was…

The 5am Club

The 5am Club is a self-help book by Robin Sharma that emphasizes the importance of waking up at 5am and following a strict morning routine. It explores the idea that this early start allows individuals to maximize their productivity, focus, and overall success in life. The book provides practical strategies and insights to cultivate a disciplined and purposeful lifestyle. It’s told through a fictional story of an ultra rich man and two people he just happens to meet at a seminar. It’s amazing!! My life has just been getting better and better since I began applying the concepts to my life (though, I had to make it the 4am Club since I was already waking up at 5am).

The next book I read (well listened to via Audible) was…

The Alchemist

The Alchemist” is a novel by Paulo Coelho, telling the story of Santiago, a young shepherd who embarks on a journey in pursuit of his dreams. Along the way, he encounters a mysterious alchemist who imparts wisdom about following one’s personal legend and finding true happiness and fulfillment. Through the teachings of the alchemist, Santiago learns to listen to his heart, trust in the universe, and seek his own path to self-discovery. It was a seriously interesting book.

Then, I read…

The Miracle Morning

The Miracle Morning is a self-help book written by Hal Elrod that introduces a morning routine designed to transform one’s life by optimizing personal development and productivity. It suggests six powerful practices, known as Life S.A.V.E.R.S., that include silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing. Following this routine in the morning is believed to enhance mental, emotional, and physical well-being, leading to increased success and fulfillment throughout the day. It has similar concepts to The 5am Club. I really loved it!

After that, I read…

Girl, Stop Apologizing

Girl, Stop Apologizing” is a self-help book by Rachel Hollis that encourages women to stop apologizing for their dreams, ambitions, and desires. It offers practical advice and strategies to overcome self-doubt, cultivate confidence, and pursue a life of purpose. Like most women, I’d never felt like I was “good enough” to want dreams and desires. After reading this book, I really started creating boundaries in my life. I started wearing makeup just because I liked wearing it. I started wearing more bracelets and necklaces, just because they made me happy. Reading this book really caused a shift in my life. I could almost feel the heavy boulder being shifted aside.

Then I read…

You Are a Badass

You Are a Badass” is a self-help book written by Jen Sincero that encourages readers to unleash their inner power and overcome self-doubt. It offers practical advice and exercises to help individuals tap into their potential and create a life they love. It was so empowering!

The list of Self-Help Books is so long I won’t even try to begin to list them all… but I ALWAYS recommend this short list to everyone I talk to.

Before starting this journey, I never felt brave and I was afraid to use my voice. Don’t be afraid to use your voice and start your own personal development journey. You don’t have to start by buying a fancy planner… just pick one area of your life and JUMP IN!
